Christchurch Boys’ High School – Year 9 Camps 2025

The Boyle River Outdoor Education Centre is a renowned provider of outdoor education for schools and community groups throughout New Zealand. Located in a stunning alpine environment, the center offers programmes that engage, challenge, and inspire participants of all ages.

The center is run by the not-for-profit North Canterbury Alpine Trust and is situated 15 km south of the Lewis Pass, nestled between the Sylvia Tops and the Libretto Mountain range. Boyle River specializes in creating custom outdoor education programmes for school groups, alongside their own “Boyle” courses. At the heart of their approach is Adventure-Based Learning (ABL), which is incorporated into every aspect of their programmes.

The Year 9 camps at Christchurch Boys’ High School will take place over a three-day period, with two sessions running from Monday to Wednesday, and Wednesday to Friday. Wednesday will serve as the crossover day.

Key Details:

• Meeting time: Students must meet at school by 7:45 am at the flagpole on the day their camp begins.

• Return time: Students will return to school at approximately 4:00 pm on either Wednesday or Friday, depending on their camp schedule.

• Pre-camp preparation: The early start ensures that all equipment is sorted, and students’ gear is checked to ensure it is suitable for the environment and weather conditions they may encounter during the camp.

• Don’t have something: Boyle River have a large range of items so if your son does not have some of the items do not worry he will be allocated those from the lending shed on his arrival. You do not need to inform school of these requirements before he goes.

Cost of the Year 9 Camp:

The cost of the Year 9 camp for 2025 will be $345. The fee will be charged to your family account and can be paid via the following methods:

• Debit or credit card through your Parent Portal.
